This artwork is an introduction to the treecreepers (family Climacteridae) and sittellas (family Neosittidae) of Australia. Both treecreepers and sittellas specialize in ‘creeping’ along the trunks of trees, searching for invertebrates to eat in the fissures of the tree bark. This is a comparative artwork to show the diverse beauty of Australia’s treecreepers, and to help budding birdwatchers distinguish these species in the field. Each species is named, with birds represented from all Australian states, excluding lutruwita/Tasmania, where no treecreepers or sittellas occur. [Note: varied sittellas are a single species comprised of six races (each with plumage variations). Two race examples are included here.]
Artworks are recreated using a local Canson Accredited printing service. These giclée prints use museum-grade paper, which is free of optical brightening agents. As these prints are made on a high-quality, textured 310gsm paper with a matte finish, they are a close match to the original artwork. They are also finished with a UV protective coating to ensure the longevity of your artwork. Each artwork is mailed in plastic-free flatpack mailer with a certificate guaranteeing authenticity.
Please allow at least one week for print preparation before shipping. Flatpack mailers will not be able to fit in your mailbox, but can be dropped on a verandah or at your elected local post office. Shipping times will vary depending on your location.
